The new Pepper Ryan thriller, Kill Tide, goes on sale on April 11th at Amazon.com (paperback and ebook).

Kill Tide is a prequel to the award-winning Killing Shore (which you may have read under its prior name, Beach Body Boogie). If you enjoyed the mix of suspense, twists and laughs in Killing Shore, give this a try!

What’s it about?

A kidnapped girl. A terrified Cape Cod. And a police cadet in way over his head…

It’s summertime on Cape Cod. Pepper Ryan’s biggest worries are a crummy love life and doubts about his supposedly bright future. But then a teenage girl is kidnapped, stunning her beach town.

The police launch a manhunt to catch the brazen kidnapper nicknamed the Greenhead Snatcher. Pepper attempts to find the girl himself, but the only thing he finds is trouble.

Then the Greenhead Snatcher strikes again.

Pepper fights to untangle a growing mess of suspects and clues, and the pressure intensifies when he stupidly promises a family that he’ll bring their daughter home alive, or die trying…

As time runs out, Pepper makes a final attempt to locate the girls and expose the shocking truth about the Greenhead Snatcher. Will Pepper’s desperate gamble succeed? Or will he lose everything?

Kill Tide is the second book in the award-winning Pepper Ryan Thriller series. If you like everyman heroes, gripping action and a splash of wit, you’ll love Timothy Fagan’s suspenseful read. Buy Kill Tide to join the manhunt today!

New poem published: “The Atlantic”

When I decided to become a full-time writer, I promised myself I’d spend more time writing poetry than I’d done in past years. It’s the “labor of love” portion of my new career…and I love it!

I’m excited to let you know that my new poem “The Atlantic” was recently published online by Pamplemousse, a literary journal by the BFA program at Northern Vermont University. Thank you to the editors! I grew up in Canada drinking grapefruit juice and of course the French side of the carton said pamplemousse juice…so I was immediately a fan of this publication when I found it.

When writing this poem, I was inspired by the question–what’s that uneasy melody that comes at the end of a season? Like at the end of a relationship? If you’ve ever felt that way too, check out “The Atlantic” by clicking the grapefruit below:

Great Summer Reads 2019

I had a blast being interviewed on Breaking Bread with Joe Piantedosi on 104.9 FM Radio on Sunday, July 28th. I recommended some great summer reads: The Shameless, by Ace Atkins, Never Tell, by Lisa Gardner…and of course Killing Shore, by me. Links to the show rebroadcast and to those books are below.

My interview begins at 35:30 (if you want to skip ahead), following Joe’s interview with the new Chair of the Massachusetts Restaurant Association. Apologies to him (and I guess to everyone listening) for my Butter Incident story!

I talk about my background and discuss why I renamed Beach Body Boogie to its new and improved title, Killing Shore, as well as announce my next book in the Pepper Ryan series, Kill Tide, targeted for fall 2019 release.

If you are looking for a summer vacation book, I highly recommend:

I hope you are having an amazing summer with loved ones, good health, and great reads!

Killing Shore: NEW TITLE

Live and learn. Trial and error. I recently retitled my first novel Beach Body Boogie. Its new title is Killing Shore. What the heck was I thinking?

I really liked the old title, but I received too much feedback that it was essentially too cute for its own good. Beach Body Boogie wasn’t an obvious thriller/mystery name and potentially was scaring off my intended audience. One reviewer called the old title misleading, saying they thought Beach Body Boogie would be a young adult spring break story!

So the new title Killing Shore will hopefully be more inviting for readers looking for a thriller/mystery read.

This is the updated cover. What do you think?

To past readers of Beach Body Boogie, obviously Killing Shore is not a new book. So please don’t buy it again by mistake!

The next new book in the Pepper Ryan series will be Kill Tide, which tells the story of the summer that Pepper became a hero to almost everyone on Cape Cod, except himself. It is coming later this year… So stay tuned!

Great New Reads Winter 2018

Wondering what I’ve been reading this winter?  Shopping for your next great read or gift?  I recommend these new books:

November Road:  A beautiful, brutal road thriller set in the wake of the JFK assassination.  Pulls no punches.

Lethal White:  Next in the suspenseful series about a London private detective and his business partner/unrequited love.  By J.K. Rowling (using a pen name!)…because this series is not for the Harry Potter kids…

Holy Ghost:  The latest in the fun, suspenseful Virgil Flowers series.  This is a police tale of small-town murder, told with humor and heart.

“Impressive Feat of Balancing Suspense and Humor”

I just received a BookLife review by industry powerhouse Publishers Weekly of my thriller KILLING SHORE (formerly, BEACH BODY BOOGIE) and I’m very happy: “Carl Hiaasen fans will enjoy Fagan’s tongue-in-cheek first novel…Fagan manages the impressive feat of balancing suspense and humor.” (BookLife)
